Project overview
We conducted a complete SEO audit and ongoing monitoring for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA.org) using Ahrefs. The dashboard shows a strong backlink profile with 575K total backlinks, Domain Rating of 63, and 8.97K referring domains. The site ranks for 42K organic keywords and generates 35K monthly organic traffic. We tracked authority metrics, backlink growth, and organic visibility to maintain the association’s strong position in the PR industry.

Challenges
The client needed to protect and grow their authority in a competitive professional association space. While the site already had a solid backlink profile, they faced slow organic traffic growth and occasional drops in rankings. Many referring domains were low-quality, and they wanted to increase high-authority links from .gov and .edu sources while maintaining a clean backlink profile.
Approach
We performed a full backlink audit in Ahrefs, disavowed toxic links, and focused on acquiring high-quality referring domains. We optimized internal linking and content strategy to improve keyword coverage. Regular monitoring of new and lost backlinks helped us react quickly. We also targeted .edu and .gov outreach opportunities to strengthen the site’s authority and trust signals.
Results
The Ahrefs dashboard now shows a healthy Domain Rating of 63, 575K backlinks (with +19K growth), and 8.97K referring domains. The site maintains 42K organic keywords and 35K monthly organic traffic. Nearly 89% of backlinks are dofollow, with strong .edu (698) and .gov (15) links. The backlink profile remains stable over the past 3 months, giving PRSA.org a powerful and authoritative presence in the public relations industry.
